Samsung UN50ES6500 “Excellent 3D Slim HDTV”.

Had purchased the Samsung UN50ES6500 TV from another seller to save $700, has worked out fine, but Amazon has a few days later caught up with the price. For a lower price difference, I would have taken the same Amazon.

Until now I always had an eye on the 5000 model, as I have but the display mirrored too. When the 5000 is much better (matter). I am anyway not clear what the UN37EH5000, which is still more expensive than the Samsung UN50ES6500 should be better. Even the man of Saturn I could not answer that. In any case, there is the ES model a few features that were not mentioned in the comments to the UN37EH5000 (see below)

So, the picture is perfect, if you have to make do with a few custom settings.

With the sound I’m happy (at least better than my old LG flat screen TV).

Now a big minus: The station list. because come on around 500 stations and to sort according to their own rules, you need the remote control for a few hours. You can export the channel list while on a USB stick, but the editing program for the PC does not work (error: invalid file format). With Samsung you find the editing program anyway, but only one (also erroneous) video as it is to use. On a forum, the program is offered, however. No solution to the format problem Maybe it’s the new TV model (ES) and Samsung UN50ES6500 delivers to the editing program yet.

Video Recording is going well on an external hard disk on which was previously a separate partition set. Besides the possibility to program, PVR via the schedules (GUIDE), you can also select the time itself, eg to avoid that the end is cut. To record to a USB stick (eg shift) need quick sticks that I have not.

The wireless connection is set up quickly and you can then try to surf. With the remote control but that is quite a chore. The Samsung UN50ES6500 features but the possibility of a mouse and a keyboard via USB to connect. With this you can set up a couple of standard pages that are on the bookmarks in the browser retrieve easily using the remote control. With the APPs and other Internet options I have not done a lot of experience. By surfing on the PC everything is not comparable because it is much slower and more complicated.

To 3D, I can not say much, 2D to 3D is quite nice, but not worth it, so we always put on his glasses. A Bluetooth player I have yet to grow me.

Again, a minus is the ease of use. You have to look pretty, until you find the desired functions. Provides guidance if only as an interactive online help (e-Manual), but not by paper or download. The instructions for the initial connection is very limited and only in English and in various European languages. Also, the information on the Samsung website are slim.

Conclusion: If you have only once the initial hurdles overcome the Samsung UN50ES6500 is a great device.
